A few weeks ago just after Level 3 had finished and we were allowed to travel around NZ again, Zac and I shot over to the family batch in Whitianga for a change of scenery.
I think everyone can relate to the fact that during lockdown, Zac and I hadn’t worried about our appearances at all! Things like hair, my makeup, clothing choices and any part of our physical appearance had gone to the bottom of the list and instead, re-growth, sweat pants and oily hair were trending.
So when Level 2 hit I began thinking about my/our appearance again and it was here at the beach I got onto the topic of hair, like getting haircuts, and getting my roots dyed, but there was a point where I think I went too far…. It was just after dinner and I was sitting there gazing at my husband (as newlyweds often do) and out of my stupid mouth came the words; “Love, is your hair thinning?”
The poor thing raced straight to the bathroom, and I instantly realised he had never even bothered to look or considered the fact UNTIL I BROUGHT IT UP JUST NOW. When he came back into the room I went straight into recovery mode. Things like “I’m kidding love, it’s probably just the lighting in the room, or maybe it just needs a wash?” Nope, no, that did not work, he went on to say things like “Look it is, here…
OMG Erin you’re right, you always go on about how we can’t have white pillowcases as I get hair everywhere… and I’m only 31!!!”
I got him to calm down and finally not panic but now, weeks later he was still discussing it with close friends and family and checking in every mirror he runs into.
Now as a new wife and girl who is extremely grateful to have found the man of my dreams, I felt terrible I had done this to him and I think he’s just perfect but nonetheless I started thinking of ways in which I could help solve this new found dilemma. I got to work researching Hair Loss in Men and products in which to stop it or restore it and as the world will have it, if you put something into the atmosphere, someone will hear it and will come back full circle. A friend of mine got in touch and asked if we would be interested in her client’s hair loss prevention products and seeing I had just been researching this exact product I laughed out loud and said OMG yes please! That client is none other than @keepitanchorednz and exactly what I had been searching for!
‘Keep It Anchored’ is a company run by Jeni, Steve and Steph who have all experienced hair loss personally. Through family members, after childbirth and/or seeing their own hair fall out.
They know first-hand the stress hair loss causes and believe there is a better way than not seeing it in our futures and having no choice but to accept it. They partnered with a team of dermatologists and hair scientists to create that new way.
Preventing hair loss, not waiting to re-grow it and proving it works before promising it works.
Like daily sunscreen prevents wrinkles, they figured out that daily scalp care can help prevent hair loss by reducing oxidative stress.
So this is exactly what Zac needs and it even got me intrigued as they have kits for women too! I have never put much thought into the possibility that my hair could be thinning but then again it always comes out in the shower, and my hairbrush is currently jammed with blonde hair!
What got me was when they compare prevention of hair loss to using sunscreen! My mum has taught me to use sunscreen since I was a little girl to prevent sun-damaged skin. It works best when you start early and when you use it daily. In the case of sunscreen, you keep your smooth, gorgeous skin for longer.
In the case of hair loss prevention, you keep your full, gorgeous hair for longer.KeepItAnchored recommends starting with the Hair Anchoring Essence. It is a daily leave-on treatment with their most concentrated dose of the clinically-proven Hair Anchor blend. Even better to also switch out your shampoo and conditioner for KeepItAnchored’s Shampoo & Conditioner so you can get an extra dose while you wash. So I looked into those products and you can see them below.
I also loved their bottom line. Anchor Early, Keep More!
The easiest thing for me was to look into their male and female kits!

HOW WE USED THE PRODUCTS:I used the Hair Anchoring Essence daily, I only wash my hair once a week but you can apply it to wet or dry hair so I just rubbed a bit in each day. Zac washes every few days and then massaged in around 8 – 10 drops on the other days also.On wash-days we started with the in-shower regimen.Step 1: Using the Pre-Cleanser that purifies scalp and unclogs pores.Step 2: Used the Shampoo with Hair Anchor blend that nourishes the scalp to reinforce hair roots.Step 3: Followed up with the Conditioner that perfects each strand to help you get the look you want each day.Step 4: Once out of the shower, we each applied the Hair Anchoring Essence to the scalp, then continue styling as normal. We didn’t rinse it off. What we found….
